NEWS  - Huntington Beach air show looking to expand to five-day event

Huntington Beach’s air show is looking to become a longer event with more activities and bring back nighttime concerts, according to details in a public study released by the city.

Pacific Airshow has typically been a three-day affair from Friday to Sunday. Now, organizers are looking to start the air show as early as Wednesday and include a plethora of new activities as they plan for the next decade of the annual event. - The air show anticipates adding to the event air racing, a nightly music festival over three days, wave pool surfing and BMX bowl competitions. • The Redlands Airport Association meets monthly on the 4^th Wednesday of the month at 6pm in the public lobby at REI
• Redlands Airport Advisory Board meets the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6pm. Meetings usually are held at Redlands City Council Chambers and occasionally the Redlands Airport Public Lobby.
• Redlands City Council meets 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. Agendas are posted 72 hours in advance for City Council meetings and Planning Commission meetings on the City of Redlands website.

21-24   (CANCELLED) Aeronautical Charting Group Mtg -  The Aeronautical Charting Meeting (ACM) is a public meeting held virtually two times every year. The purpose of the ACM is three-fold:

• Identify issues concerning safety and usefulness of aeronautical charts and flight information products/services.
• Discuss and evaluate proposals concerning aeronautical charts and flight information publications, digital aeronautical products, database coding, instrument flight procedures, and instrument flight procedure development, policy, and design.
• Provide an opportunity for government and interested participants to brief and/or discuss new navigation concepts, terminal instrument procedures (TERPS) policy/criteria changes, and charting specifications and methodologies.

The Aeronautical Charting Meeting is divided into two groups — the Instrument Procedures Group (IPG) and the Charting Group (CG) See Order 7910.5.

30.  April 30, 2025, 7:00pm, Los Angeles County Aviation Commission Meeting - This meeting will be held at the Whiteman Airport Administration offices conference room (upstairs above Vista Aviation), 10000 Airpark Way, Pacoima, CA, 91331.  Please come and support the airport.  Let the Commissioners know that Whiteman is a critical part of the National Airspace system and has a major impact beyond the boundaries of  Pacoima.  The airport is a valuable asset for the County, generating approximately $2 Million annually to support the other four airports and over $100 Million is economic impact on the area. Letting your representative (appointed by your Supervisor) know your support for the airport and the political implication of its closure is critical to keeping the airport open.

He'll cover the details, including recent procedural changes in Mexico using a fun example of a long weekend trip to pet the California Gray Whales this winter at any of 3 lagoons in Baja - a truly novel experience. Flying south is very different from flying in the US with unexpected risks and pitfalls; especially complying with US and Mexican cross border requirements. Destination runways are often dirt. Amenities such as constant contact with ATC, radar coverage  and ADS-B weather disappear shortly after crossing the border.  Additionally, VFR and IFR have different rules.
