This program will introduce a broad range of topics that should be included, ranging from airplane systems, limitations, monitoring, performance, human physiology, and more. Operating a High Performance aircraft requires High Performance of the Pilot, so let’s arm you with the knowledge you need to get the most out of your airplane.

Captain Mike is a Fullerton-based CFI, who has owned and operated a High Performance Cessna 182 for over twenty years. He teaches in a Cessna 310 as the Chief Instructor for the Multi-Engine program at SNA-based Orange County Flight Center, and is the 2026 National FAASTeam Representative Of The Year. -ACI Jet North - 19301 Campus Drive - Santa Ana, CA 92707 -  Registration Information:  Click here to register online now!

The two will focus on safe operations into and out of San Carlos (KSQL) and will cover smart flight planning for the mountain portion of the route. They will also discuss Bay Area weather hazards, visual reporting points, departure procedures and how to request and fly the "Bay Tour." With thousands of landings at KSQL and other Bay Area airports, Michael and Leigh will bring a wealth of knowledge to pilots who may be nervous flying in the busy Class B airspace.

15.  Shrimp Boats and Corridor-Cakes - How Airspace Got Like This -How Public Safety and Technology Shaped the Evolution of Airspace - Date and Time: Wednesday, April 15, 2026, starting at 19:00 Pacific Daylight Time - Speaker(s): Sal Valdes, AGI/IGI - Brief Description: Modern pilots know airspace in terms of the alphabet system: class A, B, C, D, E, and G. Those labels are a relatively recent facade on a beast whose unnatural evolution was written in blood and bitterly contested.

AGI/IGI Sal will reconstruct the National Airspace from cloud clearances in the forties to the “all-weather positive control concept“ in the fifties to today’s ADS-B requirements. Over one hundred years, personal liberty clashes with public safety and separation technology is tragically outpaced by aircraft performance. - Throughout the talk, Sal will discuss online government archives that you can use to solve your own regulation mysteries. If you have an interest in history or want to know how we got to the current airspace rules, join us for this insightful presentation.

21.  IMC Club Meeting at Palomar Airport / EAA 286 - We Will be Discussing Best Practices, New Technologies and Current Events - Tuesday, April 21, 2026, starting at 18:30 Pacific Daylight Time - Speaker(s): Joe Godfrey, IMC Club Program Coordinator -After a brief Audio/Video presentation we ask "What Would You Do"? Everyone is encouraged to join in the discussion. Videos depicting actual flights that encountered challenges are chosen from a library provided by EAA and the presenter. In the ensuing discussion, often there's agreement on the steps to take, but that's not necessarily the goal - the value is in performing the mental exercise and developing an answer that's right for you.

Sometimes we argue it out - respectfully - and modify our plan of attack. The benefit is to think it through without the pressure of flying the plane. Pilots of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. Click the link below for more information and to register. - Transitioning from IMC to VMC can be a challenge even at a towered airport. At an non-towered field you have the additional challenge of spotting and blending in with traffic. Should you cancel IFR? Does it matter? The second scenario is flying a back course approach. It's a LOC back course. Can you use your GPS for primary nav? - Location of Seminar: Palomar Airport Administration Building - 2198 Palomar Airport Road - Registration Information: Click here to register online now!
