Special Notices: (Airport Info Follows)
03/26/2026 The Ventura County Department of Airports continues efforts to develop pilot education materials to promote Fly Friendly VC (FFVC). As part of that work, the Department has designed a postcard to be showcased both digitally and in hard copy format focusing on Runway 8 arrivals. The postcard, which is available on the Department of Airports’ website and in hard copy format at local FBOs (Fixed Based Operators), is designed to promote arrivals on Runway 8 at Camarillo Airport whenever safely possible.

Runway 8 arrivals come in from the west and have less of a noise impact on neighboring communities. However, they are heavily dependent on weather conditions (particularly wind). This has been an element of FFVC for more than a year, and the Department of Airports has seen a steady increase in the utilization of Runway 8 arrivals, especially during nighttime operations. The Department’s goal is to continue to explore ways to promote FFVC at both Camarillo and Oxnard airports and to ensure that pilots and the tower teams at both airports have the tools necessary to make continued progress. - We thank you for your time. Please respond with any questions. Well wishes to you, - Jannette
03/19/2926 The Ventura County Department of Airports will be issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) tomorrow for an 11-acre site located at Oxnard Airport. This RFP was initiated by a proposal brought to the County of Ventura to utilize the site for solar energy. Because of Federal Aviation Administration obligations associated with Grant Assurances, the County of Ventura is required to submit an RFP soliciting all interested bids.

The site, outlined in blue above, is located on the east side of Ventura Road and lies within the Runway Protection Zone, which is a protected safety area. This means that there are limitations to how the property can be used, including height restrictions, all of which will be outlined in the RFP. Once the RFP is available, it can be found here.
The Department of Airports is committed to keeping this process transparent and will follow the typical RFP process, which includes:
- Issuance of the RFP on the County’s Bonfire platform (should we add link to general platform?)
- Receipt of proposals
- Departmental staff evaluation of proposals
- Negotiation of development lease contract
- Bring the negotiated lease to Airport advisory bodies for recommendations of approval by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors
- Bring the negotiated lease to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors for Approval
Thank you for your time. Please respond with any questions. - Well wishes to you, Jannette
03/04/2026 The Ventura County Department of Airports would like to extend our thanks to all who attended last night’s meeting regarding the Camarillo Airport Approach and Procedure Analysis. The meeting was the second in a series of three planned public meetings focusing on study and ways to address noise impacts on the community. The third meeting is slated for the summer. Updates will be provided as they become available.
We understand that not everyone interested in the Approach and Procedure Analysis was able to attend the meeting. For that reason, the meeting was recorded and is available at the link below.

The Department of Airports remains committed to providing thorough and transparent information related to both Camarillo and Oxnard airports and ensuring that we meet the goals of the Part 150 Noise Compatibility Studies. We thank you again and appreciate your time. - Jannette
